Hero Gold Cup: Women footballers leave for India

At the invitation of the Indian Football Federation, the Myanmar national women’s football team left for India yesterday for the Hero Gold Cup, a four-nation series, which will be held from 9 to 15 February, said a source with the Myanmar Football Federation. U Bhone Naing Zaw, the CEO of the MFF, and other officials saw the team off at the Yangon International Airport yesterday.
       The team has 20 footballers and is being led by head coach U Win Thu Moe.
       Besides U Win Thu Moe, team administrator U Tin Myint Aung and other members of the coaching team are accompanying the team for the tourney in India, said the source.
       Myanmar will play against Nepal in the opening match of the tourney on 9 February. It will compete against Iran on 11 February and India on 13 February.
       The tournament will be played in the round-robin format, with the two top teams competing in the final on 15 February, said the source.
