 A wild male elephant, about 8
years old, was found dead on
6 February, with its skin, ears,
and tusk removed by suspected
poachers, said authorities.
Officials from the local Forest
Department estimated that
the male elephant was killed
three days ago in the Hsinma
forest in Ngapudaw Township
of Ayeyawady Region.
The authorities found the
carcass after they were informed
by a villager from Pyawgone Village.
A combined team comprising
officials from the Forest Police
Force, Township Forest Department,
and other Wild Elephant
Protection teams inspected the
carcass. The elephant measured
6 feet by 6 inches. The Ngapudaw
Township Forest Department
and Ngayotekaung Police are
continuing their investigations to
arrest those connected with the
