An enterprising German strip club boss has come up with a solution to lockdown - by reopening their establishment as a drive-thru. Every Friday and Saturday evening motorists can queue up for some socially distant adult entertainment. Punters pay €35 (£31.40) for the live show, which is accompanied by DJs and includes a complimentary glass of sparking wine. One of the DJs at the event in Landshut, Micaela Schafer, said: "I think it's great to make such a concept with the drive-in because everyone needs something again, they want to get out, they want to hear loud music, they want to celebrate.”

The club's manager added: "It's nice now, it's movement again, there's life, you can tell it's fun. "The music alone and I think that the event will turn out to be positive because we have early in the evening and things are going quite well." Landshut, in Bavaria, also managed to run its annual Dult, or town fair as a drive-thru experience Germany has recorded 183,627 cases so far, and managed to keep its total number of deaths to 8,610 – a death rate of 103 per million of population.

The German government imposed containment measures on March 17, at a fairly early stage in the pandemic, and Chancellor Angela Merkel says the country has “passed the test” of Covid-19 so far. As a result, lockdown restrictions are lifting in Germany. Top-flight football has resumed in after a two month layoff due to the pandemic. The top two divisions in the Bundesliga returned to action on May 16 and women's football started up on Friday with runaway leaders Wolfsburg thrashing Cologne 4-0.
