Elderly Couple End Their Lives Together After Husband Diagnosed With Cancer

Learning to live without the one you love is challenging and just painful. While it is not impossible, some relationships get so intense through the years that for the two people involved, it may seem like there is no life if it is not with each other. One elderly couple from Wales apparently felt the same.
Howard Titterton and Jacqueline did not want to live without each other. When they found out that one of them had just a few days to live, they decided to enter into a pact that would make sure they're together in death, too, according to Daily Post. Their decision was mutual and according to them, it was the right thing to do. "Neither one of us wishes to live without the other," wrote the couple in letters they left for their dear friends. The couple claimed that they had a great life and confirmed their decision was taken independently. They also left signed letters for the police and their solicitor.
The couple was found dead in their home in Bishop’s Walk in St Asaph on November 13, 2018. Titterton, who was 80 years old was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer, and his wife, a former nurse was giving him palliative care at home.
On the morning of their death, their neighbor, Andrew Thomas found an envelope containing £500 and a letter stating that they had died of suicide. Thomas was shocked and could not believe the note. "I wondered if I was reading what I was," said the man according to Mirror Online. He then informed the police as requested by the late couple.
On arriving at the couple's home, the officers found Titterton, a retired research and development officer with glass manufacturers Pilkington, in an empty bath covered by a blanket and dressing gown. His wife, on the other hand, was found on the bed.
